John began his career as a feature film timer at Deluxe where his screen credits included “The Abyss” for James Cameron and “Do the Right Thing” for Spike Lee. He became an optical effects supervisor for the Howard Anderson Company and was then Director of Operations for the Cinema Research Corp. He joined Sony Pictures as VP of production and post production for the Sony Pictures High Definition Center during the pioneering days of HD acquisition and finishing for feature films. He then returned to the visual effects world as the VP of Technical Film Services for Sony Pictures Imageworks with screen credits including “Spiderman,” “Cast Away,” and the “Stuart Little” features. John joined FotoKem in 2003 as Head of Digital Production and has supervised the DI finish on numerous projects including “The Forbidden Kingdom”, “Hustle & Flow” and “The Lords of Dogtown” as well as the 3D DI’s on “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” and “The Jonas Brother’s 3D Concert Experience” for Walt Disney Pictures, “Yogi Bear 3D” for Warner Brother’s and “Jackass 3D” for Paramount. FotoKem received the IBC Innovation Award in 2008 for his work on the Hannah Montana 3D project. He is currently working on “Harold & Kumar” 3D, “Final Destination 5” 3D and “Journey to the Center of the Earth 2” 3D for New Line Cinema as well as “Darkest Hour” 3D for New Regency/Fox and “Footloose” for Paramount.
